We wrote this to be read

Most privacy policies are written so you won’t read them. This one is short on purpose. If anything is unclear, ask — you’ll get a straight answer.

Who we are

Askyr Software Works, Ottawa and Winnipeg. When this policy says “we,” that’s us. Reach us at care@askyr.ca.

What we collect, and why

When you talk to us. The intake questionnaire and anything you send to care@ — your name, contact details, and what you tell us about your business and systems. We use it to answer you and, if we work together, to do the work. It lives in the systems we run our business on, and it is never sold, rented, or shared with anyone who isn’t directly helping us serve you.

Analytics. Our everyday analytics are self-hosted and cookieless — we see that pages get visited, not who you are. No tracking cookies, no profiles, no consent banner needed, because there’s nothing to consent to.

Advertising tags. When we run ad campaigns, Google, Meta, and LinkedIn measurement tags load only after you say yes to a plain-language prompt. Decline, and nothing loads — the site works identically either way. Nothing is pre-ticked, and there’s no dark-pattern maze to escape.

The notes list. If you sign up for our occasional notes, we keep your email address and use it to send the notes. Unsubscribe is one click, it works the first time, and we won’t ask why.

Where it lives and how long

Your information is stored on infrastructure we manage, on servers in Canada. We keep it as long as we’re talking or working together, and as long as the law requires after that. When neither applies, it goes.

Your rights

Ask us what we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — care@askyr.ca, and a human reads it. We’ll answer within 30 days, usually much faster.

If something changes

We’ll update this page and change the date at the top. No retroactive surprises.
